About the Role

The Opportunity

Perhaps you're enjoying your current role but feel ready for more variety, more responsibility, or the chance to develop your botanical expertise alongside a wider range of ecological projects. If you enjoy balancing fieldwork with report writing, client interaction and project delivery, this could be an opportunity worth exploring.

You'll join a collaborative ecology team working across a diverse portfolio of projects, with the freedom to develop your interests and the support to continue growing your consultancy skills. Botanical experience is particularly valued, but you'll also have opportunities to broaden your technical expertise and gain additional licences over time.

The Company

This established multidisciplinary environmental consultancy brings together specialists across ecology, environmental assessment, hydrology, GIS and related disciplines. With teams located across the UK, they have built a reputation for delivering practical, high-quality solutions and fostering a culture where collaboration and professional development are genuinely valued.

People are trusted to manage their work, supported by approachable colleagues and leaders who encourage learning, knowledge-sharing and career progression. The result is a friendly, down-to-earth environment where people enjoy working together and take pride in delivering meaningful outcomes for both clients and nature.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll enjoy a varied role combining fieldwork, project delivery and client interaction, with plenty of opportunities to develop your technical skills.

Key areas of involvement include:

  • Undertaking a range of ecological surveys across the UK.
  • Producing clear, high-quality technical reports.
  • Managing your workload and supporting project delivery.
  • Building strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Contributing botanical expertise and developing specialist interests.
  • Supporting a positive team culture and sharing knowledge with others.
  • Progressing your consultancy and project management skills over time.

About You

You'll likely have consultancy experience and a solid understanding of UK ecology, legislation and survey methodologies. Strong botanical skills would be particularly welcome, although experience in protected species work, ornithology or project management would also be valuable.

You enjoy being outdoors, are comfortable travelling during the survey season and take pride in producing high-quality work. Most importantly, you'll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively and is keen to continue developing both technically and professionally.

What's on Offer

Alongside a salary from £29,000 depending on experience, you'll benefit from:

  • Flexible and supportive ways of working.
  • A broad and varied project portfolio.
  • Industry-accredited training and mentoring.
  • Opportunities to develop specialist skills and protected species licences.
  • Paid professional memberships.
  • Enhanced pension scheme and life assurance.
  • Healthcare cash plan.
  • 25 days' annual leave.
  • Gym membership discounts and additional benefits.
  • Regular social events and a genuinely supportive culture.
  • Clear opportunities for long-term career development.

Location & Flexibility

This role can be based from Manchester or Leeds, with a mix of office, home and site-based working. Travel and occasional overnight stays are part of the role, particularly during the peak survey season. Applicants should live within reasonable commuting distance of either office and hold a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle insured for business use.
