Our client is a well-established, multidisciplinary environmental consultancy with a strong track record of delivering sustainable, high-impact projects across the UK. The Role
We are seeking both a Consultant and an Assistant Consultant to join the Nature, Ecology & Biodiversity team in London.
These roles offer an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting the delivery of ecological and biodiversity outcomes across planning and development. Depending on your level, you will either be building your technical foundations (Assistant Consultant) or taking on greater responsibility in project delivery (Consultant).
Key Responsibilities

Support the delivery of ecology and biodiversity projects within planning

Assist with or undertake Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), BNG assessments and ecological reporting

Undertake habitat surveys and support protected species surveys (e.g. UKHab, bat surveys)

Carry out desk studies, data collection and baseline environmental assessments

Support biodiversity net gain calculations and mapping (e.g. using QGIS)

Contribute to technical reports, proposals and client deliverables

Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams

Attend site visits, client meetings and project discussions
About You
Assistant Consultant:
-
Degree in ecology, environmental science or a related discipline
-
Some relevant experience (placement, internship or early career role)

Basic understanding of UK habitats, species and legislation

Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills
Consultant:
-
Relevant degree with demonstrable consultancy or industry experience
-
Experience contributing to ecological surveys and reporting (e.g. PEAs, BNG)

Familiarity with tools such as QGIS and biodiversity metrics
-
Ability to manage tasks independently and contribute to project delivery
For both roles:

Strong written and analytical skills

Interest in Biodiversity Net Gain and sustainable development

Collaborative and proactive approach
-
Working towards (or interest in) CIEEM membership is beneficial
