Civil Engineer/Senior Civil Engineer
Meet Our Recruiter
About the Role
The Opportunity
Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with a growing multidisciplinary consultancy looking to appoint a Civil Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer to its expanding team.
This is an excellent opportunity if you want more than a narrowly defined engineering role. You will gain exposure to a particularly broad range of civil engineering projects, developing experience across drainage, highways, external works and earthworks while following schemes from early feasibility through detailed design and into construction.
With a strong pipeline of work and projects at different stages of development, you will have the opportunity to build a breadth of technical and commercial experience that can sometimes take much longer to gain within larger or more specialised teams.
The position also offers genuine remote working, giving you flexibility without compromising your access to interesting projects, experienced colleagues or career progression.
The Role
Depending on your level of experience, you will take responsibility for the design and coordination of civil engineering projects, working closely with clients, local authorities, water authorities and other technical disciplines.
For an experienced Civil Engineer, there is plenty of scope to develop towards Senior level. For an established Senior Engineer, the role provides the opportunity to take greater ownership of projects, client relationships and technical delivery as you continue progressing your career.
You will be trusted to manage your workload independently, while remaining part of a collaborative remote engineering team.
What You'll Be Doing
Your work will include:
-
Designing and coordinating drainage, highways, external works and earthworks schemes
-
Working across projects from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction
-
Preparing high-quality technical designs, drawings and supporting documentation
-
Supporting and managing S278, S38 and S104 approval processes
-
Liaising directly with clients, local authorities, water authorities and other stakeholders
-
Coordinating with colleagues across different technical disciplines
-
Managing multiple projects and priorities
-
Contributing to the continued development of the civil engineering team
-
Taking increasing responsibility for project delivery as your experience develops
Why Consider This Opportunity?
One of the key attractions is the breadth of experience available.
Rather than being restricted to one small element of civil engineering design, you will have the opportunity to work across different disciplines, project types and stages. This provides an excellent environment for developing into a well-rounded engineer with strong technical, project and client-facing capabilities.
You can also expect:
-
Genuine remote working
-
A wide and varied project portfolio
-
Exposure to drainage, highways, earthworks and external works
-
Projects spanning feasibility through to construction
-
Direct client and stakeholder interaction
-
Increasing project ownership and responsibility
-
Supportive and experienced colleagues
-
A strong pipeline of work
-
Clear opportunities for career progression
About You
You are likely to have around five years or more of UK consultancy experience, although applications are welcomed from engineers whose experience and technical capability align with the position.
Ideally, you will have:
-
A degree or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering
-
Good UK infrastructure and civil engineering design experience
-
Experience across drainage, highways, external works and/or earthworks
-
Knowledge of S278, S38 and S104 approval processes
-
Experience using AutoCAD
-
Experience with Causeway PDS and Flow, or equivalent civil engineering design software
-
The confidence to manage multiple projects and priorities
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
The ability to develop positive relationships with clients and external stakeholders
-
The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team
Location and Flexibility
This is a fully remote opportunity, making it particularly attractive if you want to progress your engineering career without being restricted by the location of an office.
You will work as part of a connected UK team, collaborating remotely with colleagues and engaging with clients and stakeholders across a broad portfolio of projects.
Salary
£35,000 to £50,000, depending on experience.
Whether you are an experienced Civil Engineer ready to step towards Senior level, or a Senior Civil Engineer looking for greater project variety, responsibility and flexibility, we would be pleased to have a confidential conversation about the opportunity.
