About the Role
Ocean to Earth Recruitment is supporting an established multidisciplinary consultancy looking for an Associate Structural Engineer to join its team in either Glasgow or Edinburgh.
This is an opportunity to take a senior technical role within a genuinely collaborative, people-first culture. You will have the autonomy to lead complex structural projects while helping to develop people, strengthen client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the structural engineering team.
The role
You will provide technical leadership across a varied portfolio of structural engineering projects, including:
- Industrial buildings and structures
- New-build developments
- Modifications and refurbishment of existing assets
- Structural assessment projects
- Energy transition and associated infrastructure projects
You will lead and coordinate technically challenging work, taking responsibility for quality, programme and budget while working closely with colleagues across engineering, environmental and other technical disciplines.
The position also offers the opportunity to mentor and develop engineers, contribute to recruitment and team growth, and work alongside Directors and Business Development teams to develop relationships with existing and new clients.
What we're looking for
You will be an experienced Structural Engineer with a strong consultancy background and significant technical expertise in structural design, assessment and refurbishment.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Chartered status with IStructE or ICE
- BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Strong experience designing and assessing buildings and industrial structures
- Experience with reinforced concrete and steel structures
- Knowledge of structural analysis, loading and relevant design standards
- Experience leading technically complex projects
- Strong project management and client-facing skills
- Experience mentoring, developing or line managing engineers
- Ability to produce clear technical reports and communicate recommendations confidently
- Experience using relevant structural design and engineering software
Temporary works experience would be useful but is not essential.
