About the Role

You’ve built your planning expertise—now it’s time to lead.
We’re working exclusively with a respected planning consultancy to find a high-calibre Associate Planner. This is your opportunity to take the reins—not just of complex projects, but of client relationships, team leadership, and the growth of your own portfolio.

🔍 The Role

As Associate, you’ll operate with full independence, leading on a broad mix of planning work—from site appraisals and major applications to appeals and local plan representations. You’ll manage clients end-to-end, mentor junior colleagues, and play a visible role in growing both your own network and the business.

This is a step-up opportunity for planners with consultancy experience who are ready to combine deep technical skills with leadership and commercial flair.

🎯 What You'll Be Doing

  • Own and lead planning applications, appeals, and enforcement matters across sectors.

  • Direct client contact and relationship building at all stages of projects.

  • Represent clients at planning committees, hearings, and inquiries.

  • Lead teams of consultants and mentor junior staff.

  • Contribute actively to business development—generating your own work and creating opportunities for others.

  • Initiate and deliver operational improvements in how the consultancy runs.

👤 What You Bring

  • RTPI Chartered with significant private sector planning experience.

  • Commercially sharp, confident, and proactive.

  • Capable of managing complex projects independently.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

  • A strategic mindset and a genuine passion for high-quality client delivery.

  • Comfortable representing the consultancy externally—at events, in networks, and within new business conversations.

🌱 Why This Role?

This is more than a job—it’s a platform to shape your future. You’ll be part of a values-led consultancy that gives you:

  • Autonomy to lead, freedom to grow.

  • Genuine flexibility, hybrid working, and support for work-life balance.

  • Opportunities to contribute to the direction of the business.

  • A clear path to senior leadership, with the backing of a highly experienced and collaborative team.

🚀 Ready to Step Into Leadership?

We’d love to speak with you. Whether you're ready now or planning your next big move—this could be the one that transforms your trajectory.
