About the Role

About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with an established and growing multidisciplinary environmental and planning consultancy seeking an Arboricultural Consultant to join its team in either London or Norwich.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an arboricultural professional looking to broaden their technical experience, work on a diverse range of projects and develop their career within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Our client delivers projects across renewable energy, residential development, commercial schemes and infrastructure, bringing together expertise in arboriculture, ecology, landscape architecture, planning and other environmental disciplines.

You'll have the opportunity to contribute to projects from early feasibility and planning through to construction, providing practical arboricultural advice while developing your technical knowledge and consultancy skills.

Whether you're already working as an Arboricultural Consultant or looking to take the next step from a tree surveying background, this role offers genuine opportunities for professional development and long-term progression.

Key Responsibilities

As an Arboricultural Consultant, you'll support the delivery of arboricultural services across a varied portfolio of projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking tree surveys in accordance with BS5837:2012.

  • Preparing Tree Survey Reports, Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIAs) and Arboricultural Method Statements (AMSs).

  • Providing practical arboricultural advice to clients, planners and multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Supporting tree risk assessments and the identification of veteran and ancient trees.

  • Assisting with arboricultural monitoring and supervision during construction.

  • Working closely with colleagues across ecology, landscape architecture and planning.

  • Supporting project delivery, technical reporting and client communication.

  • Developing your knowledge of tree protection, planning legislation and arboricultural best practice.

As you progress, there will be opportunities to take greater responsibility for projects, build client relationships and develop your own technical specialisms.

About You

We're looking for an enthusiastic arboricultural professional with a sound technical foundation and an interest in developing their career within environmental consultancy.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Experience in arboricultural consultancy or professional tree surveying.

  • A working knowledge of BS5837:2012 and tree surveying methodologies.

  • Experience producing or contributing to arboricultural reports and assessments.

  • Good tree identification skills and an understanding of tree management.

  • Knowledge of relevant planning legislation and tree protection requirements.

  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • A qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry or a related environmental discipline.

  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake site visits.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience using AutoCAD or QGIS.

  • Knowledge of tree risk assessment methodologies such as QTRA, VALID or THREATS.

  • Experience preparing Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Method Statements.

  • Professional membership of an appropriate arboricultural or forestry organisation.

  • Lantra Professional Tree Inspection qualification.

You don't need to meet every desirable requirement. Our client is particularly interested in individuals who demonstrate strong technical potential, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in arboriculture.

What's on Offer?

Our client recognises the importance of supporting its people, offering flexibility, professional development and a clear framework for career progression.

Benefits include:

  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.

  • A varied portfolio of renewable energy, residential and infrastructure projects.

  • Protected CPD and ongoing technical training.

  • Support towards professional memberships and qualifications.

  • Structured career development with two defined promotion windows each year.

  • Enhanced annual leave, including additional loyalty leave.

  • Enhanced company pension.

  • Private medical insurance following probation.

  • BUPA Cash Plan.

  • Death in service cover.

  • Non-contractual growth bonus scheme.
