Ocean to Earth Recruitment is excited to be working with a forward-thinking ecological consultancy that prioritises both career progression and work-life balance. Our client is offering a 4-day working week (30 hours) with full pay, fully remote working, and the chance to lead on exciting projects across Leicestershire and the Midlands.

The Role

Our client is looking for an experienced ecologist to:
🔹 Lead and manage ecological projects, from fieldwork to client delivery.
🔹 Oversee and conduct habitat and protected species surveys, including UK Hab Surveys, BNG assessments, and EcIAs.
🔹 Produce and review high-quality technical reports (PEAs, PRAs, BNG reports, management plans, etc.).
🔹 Provide expert ecological consultancy to clients, ensuring compliance with legislation and planning policy.
🔹 Mentor and support junior ecologists, helping to develop the team.
🔹 Manage client relationships and stakeholder engagement, representing the company professionally.
🔹 Play a key role in biodiversity enhancement and habitat restoration projects.
🔹 Support business growth and strategy, contributing to the future success of the company.


About You

Our client is looking for an ecologist who has:
Significant experience in ecological consultancy or a related field.
CIEEM membership (Associate or Full).
Strong botanical and habitat identification skills, including UK Habitat Classification.
✅ Experience with BNG assessments, habitat management planning, and mitigation strategies.
✅ Proficiency in QGIS (Coreo experience is a bonus!).
Protected species licence(s) (e.g., bats, great crested newts) preferred.
✅ A strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and planning policy.
✅ Experience in project management, budgeting, and client liaison.
✅ The ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
✅ A full driving licence and access to a car.
