About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is delighted to be working with our client, a leading environmental consultancy, to find a talented Senior Landscape Planner to join their growing team in Sheffield. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality landscape planning projects while mentoring a graduate and building a wider team with the support of the Director.

The Role

As a Senior Landscape Planner, you will bring your expertise in UK planning policy, landscape assessment, and environmental impact assessments to guide key projects from inception to completion. Working with a diverse range of clients, including leading housebuilders, strategic land companies, and institutions, you will provide insightful landscape planning advice and deliver comprehensive landscape and visual impact assessments (LVIA) to support planning applications and appeals.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape a growing team, supporting and mentoring a graduate while having the strategic backing of the Director to expand capabilities within the Sheffield office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage landscape planning projects, including Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).

  • Provide expert advice on landscape planning, policy interpretation, and development feasibility.

  • Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, including planners, ecologists, and developers, to deliver high-quality outcomes.

  • Review and interpret planning policies, landscape character assessments, and relevant development frameworks.

  • Support business development activities, helping to build the team and grow the Sheffield office’s landscape planning capabilities.

  • Mentor and support a graduate landscape planner, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.

About You

  • A degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Planning, or a related field.

  • Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) or equivalent professional accreditation.

  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, environmental regulations, and landscape policy.

  • Proven experience in landscape and visual assessments, environmental impact assessments, and landscape planning.

  • Excellent report-writing skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly.

  • Experience mentoring junior staff and contributing to team development is highly desirable.

  • A proactive, collaborative approach with strong project management skills.
