About the Role

Our client is a leading consultancy specialising in landscape planning and design, with a strong reputation for delivering expert services to private and commercial sectors. With over 35 years of experience, they provide specialist advice and negotiate extensively with local planning authorities, non-departmental public bodies, and charities. Their collaborative approach extends to working with partner companies specializing in landscape consultancy and creation, ensuring a holistic and integrated service offering.

Working in a fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will take a lead role in project management and mentoring junior staff. While reporting directly to the Directors, a high level of autonomy is expected, making this an excellent opportunity for a proactive and skilled professional.

Key Services Offered by Our Client:

  • Detailed Design: Providing technical expertise and design continuity through post-planning and implementation stages.
  • Public Inquiries: Expert representation, offering testimony and robust evidence to support planning applications and appeals.
  • Feasibility Studies: Comprehensive analysis assessing site constraints, planning policies, environmental considerations, and economic factors to inform strategic planning.
  • Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA): Evaluating potential impacts of proposed developments on landscape and visual amenity, including projects in National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
  • Strategic Masterplanning: Developing detailed concept options from initial site appraisals, ensuring co-design and collaborative engagement throughout the process.

Role Overview:

As a Landscape Architect with LVIA experience, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality landscape planning and design services. You will collaborate closely with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure that projects are executed to the highest standards, aligning with the company's commitment to sustainability and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA) for a variety of developments, including those in sensitive landscapes.
  • Develop and deliver detailed landscape designs that are both innovative and practical.
  • Prepare and present evidence for public inquiries, effectively representing clients' interests.
  • Undertake comprehensive feasibility studies to inform project viability and strategic direction.
  • Contribute to strategic masterplanning, ensuring collaborative engagement and co-design principles are upheld.
  • Take a leadership role in project management, working independently while reporting to Directors.
  • Mentor and support junior staff members to enhance team capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field.
  • Proven experience in conducting LVIAs and delivering landscape planning services.
  • Strong understanding of UK planning policies and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) is desirable but not essential.
