The Role

Our client is seeking a talented structural engineer to join their team and contribute to the design and delivery of industrial projects involving steel and/or reinforced concrete, including sub-structures. Key responsibilities include:

  • Design & Delivery: Taking projects from concept to detailed design stages.
  • Technical Expertise: Supporting the successful delivery of projects with your structural engineering skills.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaising effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Contributing to design risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Proposal Development: Supporting the creation of project proposals and tender submissions.
  • Technical Deliverables: Preparing project documents to ensure ISO 9001 compliance.
  • Project Support: Assisting project managers in meeting budgets and timelines for multidisciplinary projects.
  • Mentorship: Supporting the technical development of junior team members.
  • Growth Opportunities:
    • Developing expertise in blast and gas-resistant design (optional).
    • Managing project delivery (optional).
    • Line managing junior staff (optional).

Qualifications

  • A degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (BEng, MEng, or MSc).
  • 5+ years’ experience in an engineering consultancy.
  • Chartered status with IStructE or ICE (or a clear path to achieving it).

Experience & Skills

  • Strong technical expertise in structural engineering within industrial sectors such as oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, manufacturing, or defense.
  • A solid understanding of all stages of the design and construction process.
  • Ability to write clear technical reports and confidently present findings.
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • A full UK driving license and willingness to attend client sites when required.
