About the Role

Looking for more than just another planning role?
This is your opportunity to join a leading independent planning consultancy where your ideas are valued, your expertise is trusted, and your influence is felt from day one.

At Ocean to Earth Recruitment, we’re exclusively supporting a well-established consultancy to find a Principal Planner who’s ready to step up, lead meaningful projects, and play a strategic role in business growth.

🔍 About the Role

As a Principal Planner, you’ll take the lead on a diverse portfolio of projects—advising clients, navigating complex planning challenges, and delivering real-world impact. You’ll have the autonomy to drive your own work, while collaborating closely with a talented and supportive team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving, client-facing environment, and who’s ready to influence both project outcomes and broader business direction.

🎯 What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic planning advice and lead the preparation of applications, appeals, and policy representations.

  • Manage and grow client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor across all stages of the development lifecycle.

  • Mentor junior team members and coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams on small to mid-size projects.

  • Represent clients at planning committee meetings, appeals, and public hearings.

  • Play a key role in business development—building your profile, network, and client base.

👤 What You Bring

  • Chartered status with the RTPI.

  • Strong experience in planning consultancy or a similar private sector environment.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.

  • Commercially aware with a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset.

  • A collaborative, people-first approach to leadership and client service.

🌱 Why This Role?

This consultancy blends professional excellence with a genuinely supportive culture. You’ll join a team that values:

  • Flexibility and autonomy in how you work.

  • A flat, collaborative structure where every voice matters.

  • Clear career progression and opportunities for professional development.

  • The chance to contribute not just to projects—but to the future direction of the business.

If you're looking to do your best work, with people who bring out the best in you—this is your next move.
