We are partnering with a leading consultancy to recruit a Principal/Associate Ecologist who will drive innovation, provide expert ecological guidance, and lead the delivery of high-quality consultancy services. This is a key senior leadership role offering the opportunity to manage complex projects, mentor a dynamic team, and support business growth in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Our client is a respected ecological consultancy with over 35 years of experience. Their multidisciplinary team works on diverse projects, balancing ecological preservation with planning and development. With expertise in ecological appraisals, impact assessments, protected species surveys, and habitat restoration, they are dedicated to shaping sustainable solutions across the private and public sectors.

Collaborating with partners specializing in landscape and habitat creation, they are known for delivering innovative, environmentally conscious outcomes. Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Manage and deliver a variety of ecological projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Design and oversee survey programs, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies.

Technical Expertise

  • Provide expert advice on ecological surveys, species management, and biodiversity conservation.
  • Analyze data to produce detailed reports with actionable recommendations.

Client Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Align ecological solutions with client objectives, maintaining regulatory compliance.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor junior ecologists and promote a culture of knowledge sharing and innovation.
  • Facilitate collaboration across teams to deliver exceptional results.

Business Development

  • Explore and secure new business opportunities.
  • Contribute to tenders, presentations, and industry networking events to strengthen the consultancy's profile.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications are a plus).
  • Extensive experience in ecological consultancy, including project leadership and technical delivery.
  • Proficiency in ecological survey techniques, regulatory compliance, and impact assessments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Membership in professional organizations such as CIEEM or IEMA.
