About the Role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is partnering with a well-established ecological consultancy to find a Consultant Ecologist to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ecologist looking to take the next step in their career, working on diverse projects across Scotland while benefiting from remote working flexibility.

The Role

As a Consultant Ecologist, you will be responsible for conducting ecological surveys, assessments, and mitigation strategies, ensuring projects meet both regulatory requirements and ecological best practices. You will collaborate with clients across multiple sectors, contributing to impactful environmental solutions.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Conduct a variety of ecological surveys, including Phase 1 habitat surveys and protected species assessments
✔ Assist in the delivery of ecological reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRAs)
✔ Provide input into mitigation and enhancement strategies for biodiversity and habitat conservation
✔ Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and planning authorities to support project development
✔ Support senior ecologists and mentor junior team members when required
✔ Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects to tight deadlines

About You

✅ A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
✅ Experience conducting field surveys and ecological assessments
✅ Strong report-writing skills, with knowledge of UK environmental legislation and policy
✅ A good understanding of protected species surveys and mitigation strategies
✅ Experience using GIS software (desirable)
✅ Membership or eligibility for CIEEM (desirable)
✅ A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required
